Wound care is often a lot more complex than putting on a plaster. Some may need chronic care and repeated dressing changes, removal of dead tissue, antiseptic use, topical antimicrobial treatments and a keen understanding of the tissue microbiome and the time-sensitive nature of certain dressings. Whether it is a post traumatic or post-surgical wound, or a wound related to an infection, proper care can shorten the time to healing, prevent hospital admission and decease scarring and functional decline.
